Multimap Guides People around London's Treasure Trove of Architectural Delights, in Celebration of Open House London, 2005

12 September 2005

Open House, the UK architecture education charity, today announced the continued support for its Open House London event from Multimap, Europe’s leading online mapping provider. On the 17 th and 18 th September, hundreds of thousands of people will flock to over 600 private and public buildings of architectural importance throughout the capital, many of which are usually off limits to the public. It is expected that majority of these visitors will find their nearest architectural gems thanks to Multimap’s online proximity search service, Storefinder, as found at www.openhouse.org.uk.
To access Multimap’s services, visitors to www.openhouse.org.uk click the “Open House London” button, and select the “Online Buildings Search” link. They then enter the borough of interest to view a list of nearby OH buildings, and click on the map link against an item of interest to access an interactive map pinpointing its exact location. Should people wish to restrict their searches to a particular architect, building type, historic period, or opening day, they can do so easily when they enter their search.
Commenting on the services, Nicolette Spera, Open House London’s Project Manager, said, “ Multimap has played a crucial role in the success of OHL weekend over the last few years, and we’re thrilled by its continued support. The main source of information remains our website and, by making high-quality maps easily accessible to our visitors, we ensure that interested parties turn into actual visitors. In partnership with Multimap, we’re looking forward to another very successful OHL this year!“
Steve Frost, head of sales for Europe, Multimap, said, “OHL is London’s biggest architectural event, and grants thousands of people the opportunity to experience and explore the capital’s hidden gems and charms. We at Multimap are really pleased to once again be supporting such a worthwhile education programme, and trust that the provision of our services on the site will help to put not only buildings, but also the regeneration debate, firmly on the map.“
